MEDIA STATEMENT

In response to the recent incident of the detection of the bacterium Pseudomonas Aeruginosa in one brand of bottled drinking water by our member Malee Mineral Water Sdn Bhd, we are deeply sorry and apologize for the incident.

Nevertheless, we wish to highlight that only the manufacturers that been certified and licensed by Ministry of Health of Malaysia are qualified to join the Malaysia Bottled Water Manufacturers Association (New); (MBWA) as a member. All MBWA members are put under very strict regulatory compliances according to the Malaysia Food Act 1983 and Food Regulations 1985.

We trust that Malee Mineral Water Sdn Bhd will take every possible effort in their ability to rectify and prevent such incident from reoccurring. We will assist them in their efforts if needed.

MBWA’s objective is always to ensure that all members to provide safe and quality bottled drinking water to the public. We always uphold the principle of Makanan Selamat Tanggungjawab Industri (Safety of Food is the Industry’s Responsibility).

We thank all consumers for their understanding, patience and support toward MBWA members thus far.

MEDIA STATEMENT

In response to the recent destructive flood disaster in Selangor and East Coast Peninsular Malaysia, MBWA has proposed the below resolutions and urged all MBWA members to adhere to the proposal:

As our means to support all the victims of destructive flood, MBWA urges members to allow their respective workers to have PAID leave while surviving the flood and recovering from the flood.
MBWA has set up an aid team and we will release RM50,000 funds to help the victims as much as possible, especially focusing at Selangor.
To support the bottled water supply to all NGO and relief bodies in the maximum capacity to ease some of the safe flood pressure by the victims.

MBWA express our concern and empathy to the public, during the challenging time. Let’s us work hand in hand to express our support in what ever way possible.
